Parallel Park Method

by johnknowd

Do you end up like this when you try to parallel park?parallel-park-fail

Parallel parking is a new driver’s worst nightmare. Who am I kidding? It is any driver’s worst nightmare! There is nothing more embarrassing than having to redo a parallel park job in front of a line of cars and passing strangers. That is probably why everybody practices parking between their trash cans at home. It’s true, learning this skill can cost you multiple trash cans and a load of stress. However, there is no need to worry. These 4 steps are a full proof way to parallel park perfectly every time.

There are 4 simple steps that stand between you and a perfectly executed park job…

  1. Drive up parallel to to the car you need to park behind.
  2. Reverse until the trunk of your car is behind the other vehicle.parallel-park
  3. Sharply turn your wheel clockwise and continue to reverse until your passenger-side rear view mirror is lined up with the back of the other car.
  4. Sharply turn your wheel counter-clockwise and straighten out your car. You will notice that you will turn perfectly into the spot.

There is an optional fifth step that happens to be my personal favorite. There is nothing better than pulling off a flawless parking job and sulking in the glory of it after the fact. So, don’t hesitate to get out of your car and enjoy the imminent wave of applause and adoration from the random passerby’s.
